Richard Hawk Workshop:

Impact and Energy in Figurative Compositions

We'll cover three essential areas:

1. Design principles and values – reviewing the works of the masters, we’ll identify some of the things you can do that will ensure a successful painting.

2. Demystifying the figure – some specific ways of dealing with this subject matter that some consider difficult.

3. Painting with energy – loosely, intuitively, without limits or stress. Sounds like fun? It is.

We'll work in watermedia, due to the ease of execution and cleanup. However, all the approaches we'll deal with are applicable to other media.

The third day will be devoted to instructor demos in oil and acrylic, and explorations of how to execute successfully in those media. Bring your own life drawing or photo reference or use the instructor’s.
